Wow. There are some moments that can only be described with that word, moments that leave a girl wide-eyed and speechless and full of that buzzing, golden feeling from head to toe. It's a wonderful feeling, and it's exactly how we left the Atlanta Symphony Hall at 12:30 AM, January 1, 2016.
As second generation Allman Brothers fans (thanks to a dad who probably wouldn't have had any second thoughts about naming us Duane and Gregg Jr.), it was SUCH a dream come true for us to celebrate the end of one awesome year and the start of an even better one with Gregg Allman! When he's on that stage, it doesn't matter if it's 1970 or minutes from 2016. He's just a beautiful soul who loves the music, and you can see it all over his face. He was even more mindblowingly amazing than we ever imagined he would be (and believe us when we say we imagined him to be incredible). We can't help but feel inspired and encouraged from his soulful performance, not to mention so very, very grateful to have seen such a master at work. Our favorite part of the show? It's hard to choose just one, but a full house singing Midnight Rider at their top of their lungs as we greet 2016 has to win out.
For a taste of what it's like to see this legend live, go check out his "Gregg Allman Live: Back to Macon, GA" album. We haven't stopped playing it since we bought it!
