With New York Fashion Week just coming to an end and spring collections hitting all of our favorite stores, it's hard to miss a few looks trending across the board. Read on for our top picks to master the SS16 look.
1. Lovely in Lace
There's something we just love about lace, especially when paired with worn-in denim and a touch of leather. It gives just the amount of light, feminine flair to a casual outfit, and it screams springtime. These adorable lace tops by Zara fit the bill perfectly!
2. Boho Babe
The free-spirited, 70s, "Almost Famous" vibe has made a major comeback over the past few seasons, and we LOVE it. It's so effortless and chic, with just the right amount of retro and modern. H&M has an awesome AND affordable selection of flare legged jeans, and Free People can always be counted on for retro-inspired items. This Zara tunic dress is perfect for the upcoming festival season, too.
Audrey Hepburn believed in it, and so do we! We have to admit that the amount of pink we've worn over the past few years has been relatively minimal, but this dress and blouse from Free People have us rethinking it! We love the swing of this gorgeous dress, and the lace-up trend is matched with a ballerina-esque vibe. We would pair both with a great bootie for an easy vibe.
4. All Day Suede
Suede is getting close to being as common as leather in our closets, whether in jacket, dress, or bootie form! We're absolutely in love with this adorable patchwork skirt from ASOS, and this simple, elegantly cut vegan suede dress from Aritzia could go easily from day to night.
5. Pleats, Please
Pleats are SO gorgeous, especially in motion, and with the busiest time of year coming up for us, we'll remain in motion! This dress by Carolina K. is not only stunning but ethically handmade in Mexico (meaning you'll look good AND feel good in what you're wearing!). Pair with booties, as shown, or woven leather huaraches this summer.
6. Marled Knits
Don't worry, you're not the only one questioning the inclusion of knits this spring (especially if you live in the South, like we do!), but we couldn't resist. This lightweight pullover from Aritzia is perfect for early spring nights when the temperatures drop, and this adorable striped cardigan from Madewell is an easy layering piece for traveling.
7. Fringe Benefits
Love it or hate it, by all appearances, fringe is here to stay, and we're thrilled! We love the easy movement that fringe allows, and how low-key it is. It doesn't take much to make a big impact, as shown on this kimono from Aritzia. The Zara backpack is a staple pieces that will work with anything, and these booties are chic and casual.
Alright, so maybe this is a great big "Duh!", but hey, we love denim. Who doesn't? Our daily go-to is a skinny jean with a mid-rise waist, but we adore a flare on stage. It has an incredible silhouette and gives the entire outfit a different feel. Whether you like a skinny dark wash, a worn-in boyfriend jean, distressed, or flare, you can't go wrong. But if you're looking for something slightly more unconventional, consider trying a pair of overalls, or a denim dress, like this one from one of our favorite brands, Everlane.
We are of the opinion that plaid will never be out of style. Ever. It's become a staple - practically a neutral! Whether it's worn casually, or dressed up for a night on the town, it's easy, low maintenance, and gives off an impossibly cool vibe.
10. BONUS: The Collection We Love
We just discovered Ulla Johnson and couldn't believe we didn't know about it before. Every piece is gorgeous, effortless, and perfect for spring. Now if you'll excuse us, we'll be revamping our wardrobes in preparation!
