Record Store Day

"The indie record stores are the backbone of the recorded music culture. It's where we go to network, browse around, and find new songs to love. The stores whose owners and staff live for music have spread the word about exciting new things faster and with more essence than either radio or the press. Any artist that doesn't support the wonderful ma and pa record stores across America is contributing to our own extinction."
- Joan Jett

There is absolutely nothing in the world that inspires us more than a real, live record store. Downloading music is great, but there's something special about buying a physical copy of a record. It gives such an awesome thrill, as well as a sense of tangibility to the music that we love. In honor of Record Store Day, we've put together our 3 Must Have records. We found ours through Amoeba Music, the world's largest independent record store, but if you've got a local record store, take the time to go and visit. Not only are you supporting local businesses, you get the chance to be around others who love music as much as you do. You can even find a record store near you through Record Store Day's website. Check it out here!

Delaney and Bonnie are two of our favorite artists, with their groovy, soulful blues and easygoing vibe. If you close your eyes, you can almost imagine sitting together on the porch, jamming together.

To say the least, the Arctic Monkeys are unbelievably amazing. We've not heard a single song we don't like, and we're waiting very impatiently to see them live. AM is their latest record, and it's one of those rare finds that you play from top to bottom without skipping a single track.

Ben Howard has been a favorite of ours for years, though we really can't remember how or when we started listening to him. Regardless, we'd been looking forward to his second record, I Forget Where We Were, almost as soon as we finished listening to the first, and it didn't disappoint. His music is moody, atmospheric, and lyrically stunning, and he's in heavy rotation on our record player.

We want to hear from you: what're your favorite albums? Let us know in the comment section below!
